DESCRIPTION:2018 Holiday Program\n  \nJoin us at Observatory North Park for the annual Holiday Program! Jefferson students will perform holiday classics as well as contemporary music and dance in the beautiful and historic Observatory North Park (aka North Park Theatre). \nThis year\, Friends of Jefferson will *not* be selling “VIP” seating\, because the balcony at Observatory is closed for remodeling. In order to prevent overcrowding\, we ask that you consider only staying for the half of the program in which your student performs. If you have students in both halves of the program\, of course you are more than welcome to stay! \nHere’s what you need to know about this year’s program: \n\nPTA will be selling food at their pop-up tamale stand outside of the Observatory starting at 4:30 PM\, and at intermission\nIf you want to enjoy a sit-down dinner/drinks\, West Coast Tavern (in the Observatory building) will donate 20% of their proceeds to Friends of Jefferson from all sales Wednesday evening\nTheater doors open at 5:15 for Act I\, and (approximately) 6:15 for Act II\nAct I\, featuring grades TK-2\, begins at 5:30\nAct II\, featuring grades 3-5\, begins at 6:30\nFriends of Jefferson will raffle off two pairs of Disneyland tickets–one pair per Act. We will meet at the joint-use field at Jefferson Elementary and fan out from there. If you feel like pulling weeds around the school\, feel free to bring gardening gloves and tools. If not\, no worries\, we will provide trash bags\, gloves\, etc. \nKids are encouraged to come along and help! This is not just for Jefferson families–we hope to be joined by as many community members as possible\, so please spread the word. Our City Council Representative\, Chris Ward\, will be there\, so it will be a good opportunity to chat with a local political leader as well as your neighbors. \nNo worries if you can’t be there at the stroke of 8:30–you just might miss out on coffee and snacks ;p \n

We will be set up in the parking lot behind the Observatory (North Park Theatre) \nTo spotlight our gardening program\, promote the school generally\, and hopefully raise a little money\, we will be running an activity for kids where they make sugar skulls\, Día de los Muertos style\, except out of dirt and seeds! If you will be available to help out anytime between 3:00 and 7:30 on Thursday\, please either respond here or email us at friendsofjeffersonnp@gmail.com \nThis will be an ongoing thing. We’re going to have a Jefferson booth at the market once a month\, alternating focus between Gardening and ArtReach.

The first beer (or non-alcoholic drink) is on the house\, and happy hour prices apply all afternoon. Best of all\, 100% of proceeds go to Friends of Jefferson Elementary so we can fund art instruction at North Park’s neighborhood public elementary school! \nKids are welcome too! Tickets are $35 for adults\, $40 for one adult + one child\, and $12 for each additional child.
