International Baccalaureate Program

Since 2010, Jefferson Elementary School has been proud to be an authorized International Baccalaureate PYP (Primary Years Program) school. The International Baccalaureate program was founded in 1968 in Geneva Switzerland, and is currently a leader in innovative international education. At Jefferson, an IB education emphasizes higher-level thinking, teaching children through the inquiry method of learning, authentic “real world” teaching and developing students into well-rounded global citizens. Through our Program of Inquiry, teachers offer students a range of stimulating learning experiences designed to nurture the whole child through the essential elements of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme: knowledge, skills, attitudes, concepts and action.

As Jefferson continues its IB journey, we look forward to working with our community in developing students who embrace international-mindedness and a positive attitude toward learning in an ever-changing global society.
